Licensing

 

In order to provide the best use of our toolkits by a variety of developers, they are normally licensed on a per-copy basis, avoiding the need for a high initial charge. It may therefore be downloaded and evaluated for a period of up to 60 days, without charge or obligation

Our licensing packages can be tailored to different applications and market sectors.

The majority of the users of DicomObjects and XdsObjects are commercial developers, writing applications which they then in turn sell to their own customers. The licensing model is designed to accommodate such users by eliminating the initial outlay often associated with specialist programming tools. As a result, DicomObjects is available free to bonafide commercial developers, who then only pay for copies actually distributed to their customers. All ancillary uses such as development and demonstration are allowed free, as they are of mutual interests of Medical Connections and the developer.

If you qualify as a genuine commercial developer, please complete, sign and return the following Commercial Developer Agreement. In return you will receive a free developer licence which will last for 2 years .

To purchase copies of DicomObjects for use within your own organisation, you may do so by contacting sales@medicalconnections.co.uk. Please ensure that the following details are included:

  • Your name
  • Your e-mail address
  • Organisation or Hospital Name
  • Address
  • Purchase order number (if used)
  • Invoice name and address if different
  • Number and type of licence required

Once payment has been received, the licence key/s will be emailed to you.

A licence must be obtained for every copy of DicomObjects or XdsObjects prior to its use in a clinical environment, and the following charges currently apply to both DicomObjects and XdsObjects. Bulk discounts apply to both commercial developers and end-users.

All prices are subject to VAT where applicable (i.e. in the UK, and in the remainder of the EU to non-registered businesses). Apart from router licence, which are specific to DicomOnjects, the licence categories are the same for both DicomObjects and XdsObjects.

Commercial Developer licence

  • Free to use for commercial development purposes only.
  • Used by internal developers for developing, designing and testing.
  • Valid for 2 years and randomly pops up dialog box showing the remaining days before it expires.

Single workstation applications

  • 400 UK Pounds per licence as the base price - discounts of up to 25% apply - please see below
  • Applications controlled entirely by a single user, from the PC on which the toolkit is installed. e.g. image viewing applications, or modalities generating images.
  • Doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t show any licence dialog pop-ups.

Router and Gateway applications

  • 600 UK pounds per licence - discounts of up to 25% apply - please see below
  • Applications running unattended, and providing image routing and modification services, either to or from other application entities. e.g. an application that receives all images from a CT scanner and modifies them to suit local needs, before routing to a main archive.
  • Doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t show any licence dialog pop-ups.

Multi-access server applications

  • 1750 UK Pounds per licence - discounts of up to 25% apply - please see below
  • Applications providing LAN (Local Area Network) services on-demand to limited number of remote applications. e.g. a DICOM archive, or DICOM to web gateway, DICOM Worklist or Printer Server, or XDS Document Registry or Repository.
  • Doesn’t have an expiry date and it won’t show any licence dialog pop-ups.

Multi-unlimited-access server applications

  • Same as Multi-access server but with no limit on number of remote applications that can connect to the service
  • Licence £POA

Others

Not all applications fit into any of these categories, but an agreed licensing model is nearly always found, so please ask. Custom licensing terms are subject to negotiation. 

Discounts are available based upon on purchase history and bulk purchases

The vast majority of our customers pay by bank transfer which is quick, relatively cheap and secure, smaller payments may be made by credit card on our Payments page
